New Invoice Seeks to Vastly Broaden Bristol Bay Mining Protections

A brand new invoice launched within the closing hours of Alaska’s legislative session seeks to increase safety for the Bristol Bay area, house to a prolific wild salmon fishery that produces over $2.2 billion in financial output and helps over 15,000 Alaskan jobs. The invoice, launched by Speaker of the Home Bryce Edgmon (I- Dillingham) and Consultant Andy Josephson (D- Anchorage), would ban metallic sulfide mining, also called hard-rock mining, all through the Bristol Bay Fisheries Reserve, the place oil and gasoline growth is already banned with out approval of the Alaska legislature.
